My name is Robin Scott. This is my personal website.

I’m probably best known as an open source web development specialist, who works with some great talent at Silicon Dales. Here, in my website, I post my thoughts about the future of retail, the web and other personal musings.

An Open Source Specialist
I’m a primarily web developer, who now manages teams of developers working across the stack in the Open Source space, for businesses. At present, I’m starting out on an ambitious project with one client for Silicon Dales, where I am leading a team.
What’s in this website?
In a November 2019 update, I tag-lined this site with the phrase The Future of the Web because that’s what I like to talk about (generally).
Specifically, I tend to look at the future of retail, because I work as an eCommerce developer; and web performance, for similar reasons. Philosophically, this mostly falls into a space known as Open Source, because I believe this is the way to make most progress, most quickly.
Occasionally, this will inevitably lead to some discussion of politics, economics, law, ethics, and other subjects relevant to the future of the web and the future of retail. My University degree was in law, so I have a relatively good grounding in legal theory, company law, tax law, private international law, EU law, and related subjects, which provide me with some insight.
That said, I do defer to expertise, and I try to stay in my lane. I am not a lawyer; I just trained as one, once 🙂
One thing I do like to advocate for is more powerful broadband available for all. I’ve got 1000 mbps broadband via Fibre to the Household, and it’s an amazing, life-changing utility that I believe every citizen in a first world country (or any country for that matter) should demand.
Hire My Team
I work primarily as an eCommerce developer – specifically deploying mostly-Open-Source architecture is my focus – and also I do a lot of performance work optimizing single sites which fall into this space. These days, this is all done heading up a team or teams, usually for clients in the Enterprise space, or working as a consultant to teams who are looking to accelerate.
If you’d like to hire one of those teams, Silicon Dales, a technical eCommerce agency, can allow you to leverage this for your business.

Silicon Dales
Along with three colleagues, I started a business called Silicon Dales, which serves businesses which use Open Source, Google’s G Suite, AWS and a variety of eCommerce platforms, in order to offer a comprehensive, mostly-Open-Source, business package.
